Student Testimonials

Being a part of the Delaware Skill Center alumni is a life changing experience.

Prior to attending, I was at a crossroad; I felt I needed a change, but I could not find the strength to embark on an unfamiliar path. Luckily while browsing job boards, I found a listing for computer support training. The listing caught my attention because it offered free training, as well as, a free seat for CompTIA’s A+ and Network+ exams. I immediately applied - no other schools in the area could offer both experience and vouchers without an exorbitant price tag. Little did I know, I would end up with so much more.

The 5 months I spent with Mr. Jarrell and my classmates allowed me to become A+ and Network+ certified. Something I thought would have taken me several more years of school. Furthermore, this is a location that values effort, fortitude, and grit. Everyone from Mr. Mulrooney, to my Instructor, to the Office Admins became a part of my journey and never let me give up on my dream. They understood my personal struggles and valued my persistence and focus to become the woman I envisioned. It is truly because of their faith in me that I now have a new financial outlook and a foundation to continue in the realm of cyber technology.

The Delaware Skills Center provides programs that quickly teach practical, usable skills to students.  The Computer Network Support class taught me real world skills with fast-paced study balanced by daily hands-on work.  The course also taught troubleshooting approaches that were applicable to hardware, software, and network issues, enabling me to quickly diagnose and fix customer problems.  I would highly recommend the course to anyone looking for work in the computer/network support field.

I have recently completed the computer support and networking class offered by your institution. I am writing this letter to put in writing my appreciation for the opportunity you gave me and the resources that you provided me. In addition, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation towards the teacher of the class, Mr. Dave Jarrell. I have taken many classes at a variety of institutions, including the University of Delaware, Wilmington University, and Del-Tech, none of which were as engaging as this class taught by Mr. Jarrell. Throughout my years of education, I have never encountered a teacher that genuinely cares about the success of his students more than Dave. His excitement and interest in the subject of computers is contagious and is expressed during every lecture that he presents. Attending this class and educating yourself in the field of IT opens many doors that can lead to very lucrative and fulfilling careers. There is no better way to begin in this field than to learn from a teacher like Dave and I am thankful for the opportunity to do so.
